Title: Scattered

Author: Jessica Prince

Genre: New Adult

Scattered colors

SC

synopsis

The use of the phrase life is hard has become so diluted, so overstated through the years that when

someone hears it the words go in one ear and out the other. The impact is no longer there. The

meaning, the importance of that phrase no longer holds any water with those it's spoken to.

Freya Linden's life became hard at the age of seventeen, the summer before her senior year of high

school. The bright colors of her life faded into black and white, a colorless shell full of loneliness.

Until she met him.

Parker Owens breathed life back into her world. With him she began to heal. But happiness isn't a

guarantee. Sometimes opening yourself up only leads to more heartbreak. The person she thought to be

her saving grace shattered her completely.

Scattered Colors by Jessica Prince ~ Book Blitz HTML with REVIEW

Her story isn't a pretty one. The bumps in the road were monumental and infinite. But it's her story. And

the one thing that holds true is this: despite the hardships, she made it through to the other side.

SC review  By Angie

I was a bit unsure at first, but Jessica Prince won me over with this beautiful story of love and second chances.

Freya meets Parker after a tragic accident forces her to move away from her comfortable home in Chicago. At first she doesn't care for him much but he grows on her as the days go on.  But Parker has a few secrets of his own that cause him to hurt Freya when that is the last thing he ever wanted to do.

Scattered Colors is a total swoon worthy read.  I loved Parker and how much he loved Freya.  It was sweet and sexy and a great read.

I have to admit that the first half of the book was good, but I wasn't blown away. But when I got into the second half of the book, the college years, I loved it!  I almost wish the entire book was written in the college years instead of the majority in high school.  But I understand why, the author did this. It truly shows how the characters have grown.

Overall a great read and I am excited to read more from Jessica Prince!

4.5 Stars!

Scattered Colors by Jessica Prince ~ Book Blitz HTML with REVIEW

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat,

humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the

cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That's why

God created central air, after all.

Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy--she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and

sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she's also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of

books--romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession

but she just says it's a passion...there's a difference. Not that she'd expect a boy to understand.

Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures

for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

Why won’t Ginny let him step foot on her property? And why does Water feel she recognizes him?

Twenty-four-year-old River Delaney is rattled. No one was supposed to get hurt. But then that American tourist showed up. He couldn't let her die, but he also couldn’t risk being identified at the scene—so, he ran. Back to his everyday life of running his family’s pub. Only, everyday life is getting more and more complicated, thanks to his brother, Aengus, and his criminal associations. When the American girl tracks River down, he quickly realizes how much he likes her, how wrong she is for him. And how dangerous it is to have her around. Chasing her off would be the smart move.

Maybe it's because he saved her life, or maybe it's because he's completely different from everything she's left behind, but Amber finds herself chasing after River Delaney. Amber isn’t the kind of girl to chase after anyone.

And River isn't the kind of guy she'd want to catch.

Review: The Consequence of Loving Colton by Rachel van Dyken

Synopsis:

My name is Milo Caro and I have a confession to make.

I’ve been in love with Colton Mathews since I was five. He should have known that sharing a cookie with a sugar obsessed little monster would do the trick–it sealed his fate. So really, the fact that he’s sporting a black eye, a limp, almost got ran over by a car, and was nearly responsible for another person’s death? Right. HIs fault. Not mine.

I made a pact with myself–this weekend would be different. I’d come home for my brothers wedding, smile, and Colton would naturally melt into my arms, we’d get married have five kids, live in a house by the river, and get a dog named scratch (clearly I’ve thought this through).

What really happened? I punched my brother in the face, Colton kissed me and apologized, I lied about having a boyfriend, oh and everyone wants to meet the mystery man.

They say laughter always comes before insanity–ha, ha. All I wanted was my brother’s best friend…instead I’m sitting in prison.

Let this be a lesson to you all…life rarely happens the way you want it to.

Damn cookie.

Review by Michele:

*I received a copy of this book from NetGalley*

This was my first book by Rachel Van Dyken and I had no idea what to expect. I went in blind - I didn't even read the synopsis, which is very rare for me. What a pleasant surprise! It was hilarious and sweet and romantic... and pretty ridiculous. I needed a light book right now, and The Consequence of Loving Colton was perfect. I laughed so much. There were moments that were totally outrageous and unbelievable, but it is just a fun book. I loved the "best friend, little sister" romance. I really liked all of the characters, even Jayne, who everyone hates. And Max.... I loved him, but I also wanted to strangle him!  The entire story takes place over only 2 days, but so much happens!

If you are looking for a fun, light read that will make you laugh out loud, I recommend The Consequence of Loving Colton!

I am looking forward to the next book to get Max's story.  I can only imagine the shenanigans that will go on!!

4 stars.

Review: Asa by Jay Crownover

Synopsis:

Jay Crownover’s New York Times and USA Today bestsellingMarked Men series continues with the much anticipated story of southern charmer and certified criminal Asa Cross.

Starting over in Denver with a whole new circle of friends and family, Asa Cross struggles with being the man he knows everyone wants him to be and the man he knows he really is. A leopard doesn’t it change its spots and Asa has always been a predator. He doesn’t want to hurt those who love and rely on him, especially one luscious arresting cop who suddenly seems to be interested in him for far more than his penchant for breaking the law. But letting go of old habits is hard, and it’s easy to hit bottom when it’s the place you know best.

Royal Hastings is quickly learning what the bottom looks like after a tragic situation at work threatens not only her career but her partner’s life. As a woman who has only ever had a few real friends she’s trying to muddle through her confusion and devastation all alone. Except she can’t stop thinking about the sexy southern bartender she locked up. Crushing on Asa is the last thing she needs but his allure is too strong to resist. His long criminal record can only hurt her already shaky career and chasing after a guy who has no respect for the law or himself can only end in heartbreak.

A longtime criminal and a cop together just seems so wrong . . . but for Asa and Royal, being wrong together is the only right choice to make.

Michele's Review:

"We were marked and had been marked in unforgettable and forever ways. We were all better men for it. Marked men."

A wonderful ending to an unforgettable series. These Marked Men and women have woven their way into my heart, and their stories will stay with me for a very long time.

I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Asa. I didn't like him very much after the little bit I saw of him in previous books. But I'm all about second chances. I figured if Rome liked him and trusted him, I could too. And the southern charmer won me over.

Asa doesn't make things easy, but Royal is determined to get to him. She sees the good in him that he doesn't even believe is there. I loved watching them learn to live and love and trust together.

The epilogue was perfection. It left me smiling, with tears in my eyes. I'm going to miss the Marked Men and women, but these books are ones that I am sure that I'll reread again and again.
Bravo, Jay Crownover!

New Release

Sweet Girl by Rachel Hollis

Synopsis:

Can be read as a standalone.

Max Jennings is in a bad mood. It’s not anything you did; it’s just that secrets from her past make it her natural state of being. But she’s not going to talk about it or share her feelings, so don’t bother asking.

Max’s bad mood means that very few people actually truly understand her or know that her secret dream is to be a pastry chef. When a rare opportunity to work for world-famous Avis Phillips presents itself, Max jumps at the chance. Avis and her staff aren’t stingy with the tough love, so Max spends every spare minute practicing her craft. As she bakes brownies and custards, cookies and galettes, she builds an unlikely friendship with a man she once loathed and finds herself falling into something she’s spent the last six years avoiding. Will she let her painful past stand in the way, or will she muster the strength to forgive herself and realize her full potential?

Michele's Review:

All her life, Max Jennings has dreamed of being a pastry chef. But secrets from her past have prevented her from pursuing that dream, and also from getting too close to anyone. When an opportunity to work for a world renowned pastry chef presents itself, she doesn't think - she just says yes. But spending hours concocting new recipes, spending time with her family, friends and a certain annoying boy, all while trying to keep her past a secret, is totally exhausting.

I really liked Party Girl. But I loved Sweet Girl!! Max is such a great character.... I couldn't help but like her, even when she was rude and unlikable. She has so many layers.... I couldn't stop reading. I needed to find out what made her into the person she was - and it broke my heart. This story is sweet and heartbreaking and redeeming. I loved watching Max evolve. And we also get more of Miko and Landon and Brody and Taylor.

I adore Rachel Hollis's descriptive writing style and her fascinating characters. I cannot wait to read more by this author!

5 stars!
